Mzee Can. Maranga who has been battling sickness for some time died in Kampala.

He will be laid to rest at his home in Kitagata Kyeizooba Bushenyi district on a date to be communicated later.

In Bushenyi—-

Bushenyi Ishaka municipal councilors have today 4^th May 2021 rejected to hold Sectoral committee meetings after getting information that there were no allowances for their attendance.

The councilors from the four sectoral committees; of works, social services, production Finance and administration who had converged at the municipal headquarters for the meetings angrily walked away.

According to David Betega the municipal town clerk, the municipality has not received money from the central government for some time.

He intimated to www.mknewslink.com managing editor that they have money on papers but have no money in bank accounts.

Municipalities and cities used to collect a lot of money from bus and taxi parks until the president stopped them from getting taxes from parks therefore cities and municipalities are yawning.

Betega revealed to www.mknewslink.com that the majority councilors who lost in the elections were the ones discouraging the rest from attending the meetings.

He noted that some of them were demanding for their annual ex gratia, and expressed worry that they wouldn’t be paid when their term of office expires in June 2021.

In Sheema–

A resident in Sheema has accused the Shuuku town council LCV councilor elect Muganzi Nelson of soliciting a bribe from him in exchange for a job.

Dr. Johnbosco narrated to www.mknewslink.com that during the campaigns, Muganzi Nelson a resident of Kyempitsi ward Shuuku who is the elected LCV councilor convinced him to pay a sum of 450000 so that he could get him a job at the district.

The doctor told www.mknewslink.com reporter that he even filled the forms produced by Muganzi but he has up to now not received any good news from the accused.

However, Muganzi said that he has not got a single coin from the doctor adding that he is just trying to blackmail him.

He alleged that this is the hand work of his opponent Abel Bigirwa aimed at tarnishing his name before the people who trusted him with their votes.

He however acknowledged pursuing a job for Dr. Johnbosco from the district adding that he was just helping him and he is still waiting for a way forward from the district authorities.

Muganzi threatened to run to courts of law to sue the doctor for allegedly tarnishing his name.

In Mbarara—

Police in Rubindi , Kashare Kashari North , Mbarara district have  arrested a woman for critically injuring her husband with a panga.

Caroline Bonabana a 35 year old resident of Omukarungo, Rubindi Town council allegedly chopped the hands and legs of her husband Alex Musinguzi after an argument.

According to the OCCID Rubindi Police Station Benard Atukunda Namanya, Bonabana will be charged with attempted murder.

Namanya told www.mknewslink.com that as Police, they are still gathering evidence to pin Bonabana.

By the time we filed this story, the injured man was nursing wounds at Sheema clinic in Rubindi Town council .

In Ntungamo—

Magistrate’s Court in Ntungamo has today acquitted the State Minister for Labour, Mwesigwa Rukutana of all charges stemming from a shooting incident in Ntungamo during the NRM primaries last year.

Rukutana was arrested and detained after he allegedly shot and injured Daniel Rweiburingi and also damaged a motor vehicle in a brawl related to violence during the NRM primaries

He was later arraigned in court and charges of attempted murder, assault, malicious damage to property, and threatening violence slapped against him.

However, on Friday, the Ntungamo magistrate’s court ruled that prosecutors had failed to prove that the former deputy Attorney General was involved in the said violence.

“From the evidence, it is very clear that at the second scene the victims were attacked by unidentified occupants of a minibus. There is no cogent evidence whatsoever showing that the accused appeared at this scene and in the light of the grave inconsistencies and contradictions in the prosecution evidence, this court finds the evidence of the witnesses a mere fabrication,” the acting Chief Magistrate Gordon Tumuhimbise ruled.

“From the above, I find that the prosecution has miserably failed to prove all the ingredients of the offence of attempted murder against the accused beyond reasonable doubt and the accused should be acquitted of that offence.”

Rukutana was also accused of malicious damage of a motor vehicle, Toyota Rav4, registration number UAQ 840X during the scuffle.

However, the trial magistrate watered down the evidence arguing that one of the witnesses failed to prove how he acquired the vehicle.

According to the magistrate, in his defence, Minister Rukutana said the damaged vehicle belonged to another person, and not Moses Muhumuza who had been presented as a witness.

“It is very clear that this vehicle left the first scene where they met the accused intact. During his defence, the accused stated that he never appeared on the second scene where this violence occurred. I, therefore, find that prosecution has not proved all the ingredients of this offence against the accused beyond reasonable doubt and the accused should be acquitted of this offence.”

The magistrate also acquitted Rukutana of charges related to threatening violence saying there was no evidence to prove the same.

“On the whole, I find the evidence adduced by the prosecution against the accused on all the seven counts full of concoctions, falsehoods and grave inconsistencies. It is full of nothing but naked lies that no reasonable tribunal or court can convict basing on it,” the magistrate said.

On the other hand, he said that Rukutana’s defence evidence was consistent and well corroborated as well as being believable.

“In the circumstances, I find that the prosecution has not proved any of these charges against the accused beyond reasonable doubt as required by law. I, therefore, find the accused not guilty of all the charges and I do hereby acquit him on all the seven counts.”

In Rukungiri–

A former finance manager at Kisiizi hospital in Rukungiri has been charged at the Anti-Corruption Court with theft of Shs 1.23 billion.

Ronnie Okello Ameri is accused of stealing the money while working as Finance manager at the Church of Uganda Managed hospital found in Rukingiri District.

Investigations conducted by the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) indicate that Ameri created fake invoices, and issued them to ghost drug companies.

Charles Twiine, the CID spokesperson, said whereas the hospital had initially accused the suspect of stealing over Shs 3.5b, their investigations only linked him to Shs 1.23b.

He added that the crime was committed between 2019 and 2021, adding that the case file has been sanctioned by the Director of Public Prosecutions Jane Francis Abodo pending hearing at the Anti-Corruption Court.

Prior to his current job, Ameri worked as a Property Accountant at Knight Frank Uganda, Graphic and Accountant at Movit Products Limited Graphic, Modern Lane Limited Graphic and Kampala Motors Limited.

He also served as a Program Finance and Administration officer at Consumer Education Trust Uganda Graphic.

Kisiizi Hospital was founded by missionary John Sharp in 1958 and was later taken over by the North Kigezi Diocese of the Church of Uganda.

In Bushenyi—

Foot and mouth cattle disease is under control in Bushenyi district following its attack on two sub-counties in the district.

According to Bushenyi district veterinary officer Dr.Robert Natukunda, the disease has been managed without spreading to other sub-counties other than Kyabugimbi sub-county and Kyabugimbi town council.

Dr. Natukunda said this April 27, 2021 at Friends Hotel in Bushenyi town in an exclusive interview with www.mknewslink.com editor on the update of the disease that attacked the district two weeks ago.

He noted that him and staff of veterinary have controlled movement from the two affected sub-counties. He said this has helped very much against the spread of the disease to other sub-counties.

He added that slaughtering of animals has also been banned in the two sub counties of Kyabugimbi and Kyabugimbi town council.

Foot and mouth disease has so far been detected in the districts of; Kiruhura, Kazo, Ibanda, Mbarara and Sheema of recent.

Rev. Christopher Tugumehabwe has threatened to sue Emeritus Archbishop Stanley Ntagali for sleeping with his wife.

Rev. Christopher is a husband to Judith Tukamuhabwa the woman whom Ntagali recently confessed to have been having an affair with.

In an intention to sue letter seen by www.mknewslink.com, Tugumehabwe says that it has come to his knowledge that Archbishop Ntagali has been committing adultery with his wife and she currently bears Ntagali’s child.

Through his lawyers of Bikangiso and Co. advocates, Christopher adds that it has also come to his knowledge that the archbishop encouraged, advised and ensured that his wife petitioned Kabale magistrate’s court for a divorce.

“We have also recently learnt from various media platforms of the fact that, you admitted to having committed an offence of adultery with our client’s wife,” Tugumehabwe’s lawyers say in their intention to sue.

“Your unbecoming, sinful and unlawful conducts have occasioned our client general damages to wit- loss of dignity, marriage break down, stress, trauma, embarrassment, loss of privacy… and minimal chances to rise in the clergy ranks,” they asserted.

The lawyers thus demand Ntagali to pay 50,000,000 million shillings as damages caused to their client and 30,000,000 as costs so far incurred in the divorce case.

They also want the Archbishop to apologize to the Reverend and failure to do both; he should prepare to battle them in court.

Minister for Local Government Raphael Magyezi has disclosed that his ministry is planning on weeding out all parish chiefs who do not have a diploma or its equivalent.

Minister Magyezi was speaking in a parish chiefs model program conference for Sheema parish chiefs held at the district headquarters on Saturday 24^th April 2021.

His remark followed an outcry by the RDC Frank Besigye Kyerere concerning parish chiefs who have adopted not only a habit of corruption but also drink alcohol to the maximum.

Kyerere said that most of the parish Chiefs in the district have resorted to alcoholism and abusing each other on social media than delivering services to people.

However, Justice and constitutional affairs minister who doubles as the legislator for Sheema south Constituency Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu noted that corruption has taken over every government sector.

He stressed that even the tenderers of government projects have overtime been engaging themselves in corruption using procurement to swindle government money.

Uganda has a total of 10594 parishes; Sheema district has a total of 74 parishes and every parish is to get 45 million annually once the 2021-2022 financial budget is approved by the parliament.

The minister for East African affairs Maj. Gen. Kahinda Otafire has revealed that good governance that president Musevein is practicing which does not involve killing of innocent Ugandans is as a result of the advice offered to the president by Amanya Mushega and others.

Kahinda said this today 25^th April 2021 while delivering the message from president Museveni to the family of Amanya Mushega during the burial of Mushega’s mother Yunia Mushega.

The burial took place in Bumbaire Bushenyi where thousands of people from Bushenyi, Kampala and other areas gathered to send off Ms. Yunia Mushega.

Otafire noted that during Amin and Obote governments, people would disappear and be murdered never to be seen again.

“How can a person like me of 110kgs get lost and is never seen again in future. The wise counsel of Amanya Mushega and others has compelled president Museveni from killing innocent Ugandans as well as disappearance,” Otafire noted.

Ms. Yunia Mushega died at the age of 96 years and her husband died 25 years ago. She has survived by 12 children, 6 girls and 6 boys.

Many dignitaries attended the burial and they included the bishop of West Ankole diocese Rt. Rev. Johnson Twinomujini who led the prayers, MP Arinda Gordon Cowboy, Minister Mary Karooro Okurut, Prof. Kabwegyere, and Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi.

Others are Hon Paul Mwiru from Jinja west, Dr. Eng. Silver Mugisha the MD NWSC, former MD NWSC Dr. William Muhairwe among others.
