The Bishop of Northwest Ankole Diocese in Ibanda district, Rt. Rev. Amos Magezi has appealed to the house of clergy and Christians to use the festival season to pray and fast to save the country from drifting into a state of evil deeds.
Rev. Magezi said that people tend to get involved in criminal cases like incidents of killings, accidents on the roads due to carelessness under the influence of drinking excessive alcohol during Christmas season.
“The festival season is finally here. As a norm ,urban dwellers are expected to travel up country to celebrate with their loved ones .I argue you all to always follow Jesus Christ by avoiding creation of enmity and hatred among the people in your communities”, Rev. Magyezi said.
Bishop Magezi said these while delivering his Xmas message at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Ibanda Municipality on 16th Dec.2019.
Rt .Rev. Magezi and the Church also appealed to all Christ believers in Northwest Ankole diocese to pray to God to turn their concerns against anxiety, violence of all kinds which are against the will of God and humanity, community for well-being.
He noted that Jesus Christ was born for the people to live in harmony, but unfortunately many sinners are doing illicit things that are against the teaching of Jesus Christ instead of following his examples.
He also asked people to celebrate Christmas with Christ being their guard and also share Christmas goodies, food with the needy people who live around with them.
Bishop Amos Magezi however condemned women who tend to leave their husbands for not buying Christmas goodies like clothes and meat saying that Christmas is for a short period of time, therefore they should be patient.
