IN BUSHENYI—-
Controversial Bushenyi’s Kanyamurera seed secondary school cannot open in Feb 2025 because work is behind schedule. This is according to Bushenyi district public accounts committee that visited the site today Dec. 09, 2024
Despite the above bad development, the ministry of education and sports is in final stages of recruitment of teachers, others staffs as well as other necessities for the seed school.
According to Bushenyi district Eng. Kiiza Banarbas Mponimpa, the contractor’s time expired on Oct. 08, 2024 and was given more 4 months which will expire early feb. 2025.
www.mknewslink.com managing director visited the site together with Bushenyi district PAC but there is a handful of workers on the site.
The site Eng. Told members of the committee chaired by Muhammed Kamadhi that work was at 70% but members refused after touring and put the work at 50%
Bushenyi district PAC chairman Muhammed Kamadhi
Sources told www.mknewslink.com news website that the contractor has already been paid 3billion out of 3.5billion. When PAC members asked the Eng. Mbonimpa how much had been paid to the contractor, he told them that he would reveal figures in office.
Another credible source told this news website that the first contractor abandoned the site and later sub-contracted it because the district officials from the top ate a lot of money from the contract and decided to leave.
When PAC chairman asked the Eng. About the contractor sub-contracting the seed school contract, he denied the information and said that it was the same contractor.
A source also told www.mknewslink.com that the sub-contracted contractor brings a handful of staff when he is expecting visitors from the ministry or district and after visitors have gone away, they are removed from the site and no work goes on.
There were a lot of pulling of ropes in Bushenyi district council during allocation of this seed school to Kanyamurera. There was competition and fightings in the district council by councilors on allocation of this school.
Its being constructed at Kanyamurera moscue along Ishaka –Kasese high way near Global village tea factory.
