EIGHT THIEVES ARRESTED IN FORT PORTAL

Police in conjunction with West division leadership, home guards have arrested eight people in an operation carried out yesterday in Futi Butangwa Butebe parish. It’s alleged that the eight have been perpetual thieves in the area.
The arrested people have been identified as Natukunda Joel 23, Mugenyi Paul 32, Abdulla Isma 18, Baguma Richard a juvenile, and Tukamushaba Mbrose 32 hailing from Kamwenge district, Asaba Chris 20, Mwesige Joseph 24 and Tusiime Joseph 24.
According to the division chairperson Muhumuza Richard, the six were arrested after one of their collogues mentioned their names.
Muhumuza added that the duo were also found with master keys which they use to open people’s houses, like pangas, hammers, and knives among others.
He also stated that the operation was carried out due to the outcry from the public over the escalated theft in the area.
Muhumuza further noted that the operations are continuing until the end of festive season and he however appealed to the public to avail them with information so that they eliminate all wrong doers in the area.
The eight are currently detained at west division police post pending to be taken to court for theft charges.
