FIRE DIOCESAN SECRETARY, TREASURER AND DEAN WEST ANKOLE DIOCESE THEN WE BRING OUR MONEY TO BWERANYANGYI—SHEEMA X-ANS TELL ARCHBISHOP NTAGALI
BY WILBER MUHWEZI
A peaceful meeting that sat at the province of the church of Uganda in Kampala yesterday chaired by the archbishop of the church Stanly Ntagali and 26 canons and strong Christians from west ankole diocese resolved to have a special external audit of all the books of the diocese including five archdeaconries of sheema that have spent four years without remitting money to the mother diocese.
According to a credible source [Rev. Canon] who attended the meeting and took notes told www.mknewslink.com news website editor that after the audit firing if the diocesan secretary, treasurer and Dean then sheema Christians will remit money to the diocese including the money of the last Christmas of 2016.
The meeting according to our credible source included three categories of people; they include sheema Christians opposed to Retired Bishop Katoneene who included a minister of tourism Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu and Canon Makaru former greater Bushenyi district chairman among other strong Christians.
The second category is that of Igara Christians led by canon Yorokamu Bashaasha who pay allegiance to retired Bishop Katoneene.
The last category of the west Ankole Christians who met the archbishop yesterday Jan. 25, 2016 were those that are pro-acting bishop and the archbishop stanly Ntagali. They were led by Can. Prof. Emmanuel Karooro the head of laity and retired diocesan treasurer Rev. Canon John Mashanyu.
The source added that the meeting was jolly and the archbishop was accompanied by provincial treasurer, provincial development officer and the provincial education secretary.
Canon Ephraim Bamuyendera who embarrassed the archbishop in Mitooma on Jan. 19, 2017 by refusing to shake his hands and archbishops forgiveness publically was among the delegation on Katoneene leaning group.
The source told www.mknewslink.com editor that the issue of Bamugyendera was discussed upon lightly. It never took a center stage which in real sense should have.
Sheema Christians vowed not to take money to Bweranyangi until Rev. Can Nobert Tibikoma dean, treasurer Mr. Mugume who is an Adventists and Rev. Can Authur Atwiine are transferred from the diocese headquarters because the issues they have with money and Bishop Katoneene is at the same time connected to the three men who worked closely with the retired bishop.
On the other hand the consecration of the new bishop of west ankole road map was not tampered with. May 28, 2017 is consecration of the new bishop, on April 21, 2017 is the sitting of the house of bishops to elect a new bishop of west Ankole diocese from the two names that will have been forwarded to the house of bishops on April 05, 2017 by election committee that was put in place by west ankole diocese synod in Sept. 2016.
Nominations/election committee is made of 15 people and is chaired by the diocesan chancellor counsel Mavin Baryaruha. Among these 15 people include Can Ephraim Bamugyendera.
The job of the bishop of west ankole has been declared vacant by the election committee of Counsel Mavin Baryaruha. Interested clergy have already started applying for the position.
