Residents in Fort portal town are at high risk of being injured and even death as they have refused to vacate buildings condemned by the authorities.
www.mknewslink.com has observed smooth operations in the newly regarded condemned structure on both streets of Lugard road and Molidina streets.
The building which on 13th May 2019 collapsed on two people during an alteration process has continued to host the Virika Pharmaceuticals and other various services despite several letters written to them by the municipal authorities, advising them to gazette the place to avoid more catastrophes and also bring up their new plans for approval to replace the building with a storied one.
The town mayor Rev. Willy Kintu Muhanga speaking to our reporter said that he tried hard to write to the concerned people of the building but also wondered why the enforcement team in partnership with the RDC who was also copied the letter were refraining from implementing the council resolution.
When contacted, the RDC Mr. Asiimwe Steven squashed our reporter noting that he is not the one in charge of collapsing buildings in Fort portal municipality.
Rogers Mulindwa the senior law enforcement officer Fort portal municipal council noted that since people have refrained from vacating the building he wants it to collapse on more 10 people so that they can vacate willingly.
