GOV’T VEHICLES COLLIDE IN GULU,HEALTH MINISTRY’S DATA MANAGER DIES
One person has died on the spot and three others sustained serious injuries after two government cars rammed into each other on the Kampala Gulu Highway this morning.
The accident according to police, took place at around 6am in the morning at Wampiti in Kakooge Sub County, in Nakasongola district.
The deceased has been identified as Agnes Nantunzi, a Data Manager at the Ministry of Health.
Paul Kangave, the Police spokesman in the Savannah Region says Nantunzi was heading to Gulu, when the ministry car she was riding in, Registration Number UG 4590M collided with another car, Number LG 0025066, which belongs to Lira District.
Nantunzis driver, one Robert Lubogo sustained serious injuries according to Kangave; along with the occupants of the other vehicle.
In Lira district vehicle was 44-year-old Franchise Ofungi, the District Education Officer (DEO) and his driver Moses Kasule, 38.
Both, according to Kangave sustained serious injuries.
Kangave, citing preliminary investigations, blamed the accident on the DEOs driver, who he says was driving recklessly.
“The driver of LG vehicle crossed his lane and rammed into the (Health Ministry) vehicle,” he said.
All the victims and the deceased are at St. Francisca Health Center IV, Kakoge.
