Thousands of Christian believers have today gathered at St.John Mwengura Chuch of Uganda to celebrate Father’s day.
The historical function was presided over by the Igara East Legislator Hon.Micheal Mawanda Maranga.
A total of UGX 5,974,300/= was collected in a completion where Mwengura Emerged as the winner with 3,240,200/=, Kitagata were the second with 1,802,700/= while Rwenyena became third with 931,400/=.
In other competitions, Mwengura Fathers won a football trophy in the recently concluded tournament and results were as follows;
1st July, Mwengura 1-1 Kitagata,
2nd July Kitagata 0-0 Rwenyena,
3rd July, Rwenyena 0-4 Mwengura
Mawanda urged the christians to always put God first in whatever they do if one is to succeed in life.
He thanked the parish priest for bringing such competions in order to unite Christians and further added that through these competions, a common goal is achieved.
Mr.Laban Mwebembezi, the fathers’ union chairman noted that since 19th September 2016, the Father’s Union has been hindered by unserious leaders but with his current team, they will put it to a level above.
He encouraged other men who have not yet joined to hurry, join them and continue with God’s work.
Head of Laity Mr.Charles Maranga advised Christians to work hard for a better life adding that men had turned away from the church and resorted to boozing which is a bad act.
Rev.Laban Batungire, The Host Parish priest thanked the MP for his generous support towards the church and asked Christians to keep praying for their MP and promised to put these competitions every year for unity of God’s Church.
The sermon was given by Eng.Godwin Mutabarura who informed the congregation that its high time to reconcile with others and return back to the Church emphasizing that great things will be met.
Mr.Christopher Bebanza the LC3 Chairman also attended.
