The embattled Igara West MP; Raphael Magyezi has insisted that what come may he must table the private members Bill 2017 on Tuesday next week.
Magyezi was on Saturday evening of 23rd Sept.2017 speaking on BFM radio station in Bushenyi town where he said he is ready to table the bill for the benefits of all Ugandans.
He said the Bill does not only intend to favour old people but also the youth who are legible voters will be allowed to compete for the presidency if the article 102 (b) is deleted from the constitution of Uganda.
However, he said Ugandans are free to give their views about the bill when it is brought on the parliament floor next week.
He added that they can either support it or reject it in respect of laws of Uganda.
Magyezi also said that Ugandans have a right to demonstrate peacefully against the bill; however, he warned that police will not tolerate violent demonstrations.
When asked whether the bill is intended to favour President Yoweri Museveni who is now clocking to 75 year of age, Magyezi insisted that it will also benefit all voters with minimum qualifications to compete for presidency.
He denied working under the financial influence from president Museveni, saying that he has never received even a single coin from the president to champion the plans to remove the age limit.
There have been allegations that Magyezi was offered a residential house in Kampala and huge sums of money by the state before he started plans to remove presidential age limit.
Some of the callers warned him to use other means of seeking a ministerial post instead of amending the constitution an act they say might bring Uganda into turmoil.
The bill which was handed over to deputy parliamentary speaker Jacob Olanya last Thursday amid commotion from both opposition and NRM MPS was kept until next Tuesday of 26th Sept.2017 when Magyezi is expected to table it on the parliament floor.
