INCIDENTS OF FOOD POISONING WORRY RUBANDA WOMAN MP

The Rubanda District Woman MP Hon Akampurira Mbabazi Prossy has raised an alarm over t the growing habit of food poisoning in the district.
Hon Akampurira Mbabazi Prossy who was speaking at the closure of the 4 day Annual brethren conference which was held at the convention site In Rugarama Kabale municipality expressed concern following an incident that occurred on Friday 6th January 2023 where over 91 mourners were hospitalized after suspected food poisoning at the burial of late Katuro Samuel in Kitahurira cell, Kashasha parish in Nkumba sub county, Rubanda District.
Elly Maate the kigezi regional police spokesperson told the journalists that Police together with Health teams responded and conveyed the victims to various health centres in Muko, Kitahurira, lkumba and Kyiizi where they got first Aid and later discharged upon showing signs of improvement.
A statement of a suspected food poisoning incident was entered at Rubanda Police station under reference number GEF: 001/2023.
However on 12th January the security personnel from the district detained four suspects in connection with the incident.
Hon Akampurira now says love and unity among the locals should take root and that it is time for parents to sit down with their children and advise them accordingly.
According to the Rubanda Resident District Commissioner Lilian Ruteraho, the suspects are helping Police to find out why they were seen in the kitchen before the incident yet they were not on the official team that was responsible for cooking.
