Dr. Stephen Asiimwe Sande has today afternoon been laid to rest in Kitojo village Sheema municipality Sheema district.
Dr. Asiimwe whose 52nd birthday was to be celebrated next month died in Tanga road crash on Monday this week where he had gone to participate in the motorcycle rally.
Speaker after speaker described Dr. Asiimwe as a very bright young man who earned his name international through hard work.
His mother Ruth Sande told mourners that She was satisfied with what God did to take away his son whom he gave him to her and decided to take him now.
His wife Moreen Mpairwe Asiimwe described her husband as a hardworking man who took them to places all over the world due to his knowledge and friends he made.
His father and mother in law eulogized him as generous and friendly to all ages especially children and taking care of them as a whole family.
The government was represented by close friend of the family Dr. Elioda Tumwesigye who described the late as a hardworking young man whom he gloomed through his organizations of Bushenyi Medical Centre (BMC) and Kabwohe Clinical Research Centre (KCRC).
Dr. Elioda noted that the late Asiimwe was linked to a university in America where Elioda completed his masters from and as well the late Asiimwe completed his masters and Phd from the same university.
Many dignitaries attended the burial including Members of parliament; Annet Katusiime Mugisha, Ruth Rujoki, Paul Ninkusiima, Charity Kibaju among others.
Still, the entire Mbarara University of Science and Technology was present right from the vice chancellor to the lowest staff. Professors from America and Uganda and other countries attended the high profile burial.
In attendance was also the commissioner general of Uganda Revenue Authority John Rujoki. The father of the late Asiimwe, Sande also served as the commissioner general URA, according to Elioda Tumwesigye.
Elioda added that Sande senior was the first graduate in Kyangyenyi subcounty and other areas around.
