Itojo Hospital in Ntungamo district is still stuck with two unclaimed bodies that have remained in its mortuary for days following a fatal accident.
The accident occurred on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, near Pearl Flowers in Rubaare Town Council, along the Ntungamo-Kabale Highway.
Dr. Innocent Twesiime, the Medical Superintendent of Itojo Hospital, has confirmed in a phone interview that the deceased, both male adults estimated to be between 30 and 40 years old, were brought to the hospital by police for a postmortem. However, no one has come forward to claim the bodies since their arrival.
He said that police told hospital management that the two men were traveling on a motorcycle, registration number UFE 361S, at the time of the crash.
Dr. Twesiime noted that the hospital has been unable to establish their identities or trace their relatives.
Anthony Kushaba, the Communications Officer for Ntungamo District, has called on the public to help identify the bodies. He stated that the deceased were traveling from Kabale towards Ntungamo when the accident occurred near Pearl Flowers.
He urged anyone with a missing relative or information that could assist in identifying the bodies to visit Itojo Hospital for further assistance.
Kushaba added that if the bodies remain unclaimed, authorities will proceed with burial at the cemetery this week in Ntungamo District.
By the time of reporting, police had not yet issued an official statement regarding the accident.
