JANET MUSEVENI’S COUNTY DEMANDS NEW COUNTY, DISTRICT STATUS

The political leaders of Ruhaama County in Ntungamo district have started mobilization to have their county elevated to district status for better service delivery to the electorate.
During the political and NRM mobilization meeting held today 6th.June 2017 held at Kyahwire Guest house Ntungamo municipality argue that the idea of a new district curved out of Ntungamo is as a result of public interest and supported by a resolution made by residents during a Consultative meeting was held at the MP’s country home Hon. Beijukye William Zinkuratiire in Rweikiniro-Ruhaama Ntungamo district on 14/4/2017 where the RDC Justine Mbabazi was the guest of honour.
It is comprised of 9 sub-counties of Rukoni East, Nyakyeera,Ntungamo Rweikiniro Ruhaama A,Rukoni West,Ruhaama B and Kitwe Town council.
According to Twikirize Nicholas Mugyenyi male youth District councilor and chairman production, marketing and Natural resources noted that Ruhaama County being one of the biggest counties in the country with population of about 220,000 people, they resolved to be split into 2 counties for effective service delivery.
“The county is geographically hard to reach, hard to stay in with extremely poor service delivery which had denied the people a chance to access services and people had to trek long distances to access markets for their agricultural produce”. They argued.
Coucilor Twikirize also said that they resolved to lobby for Nyamukana town board, Nyakyera S/C and Kafunjo-Mirama Hills to be elevated to Town councils after traversing the whole county for signature including stakeholders and Ruhaama Kampala Chapter among others.
They noted that they will petition the President,Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga and local government ministry for redress.
They selected seven manned committee to steer the seceding of Ruhaama county from Ntungamo district led by Tom Muhoozi NRM chairman Ntungamo S/C, others include LCV councilor for Nyakyera S/C Peace Tusiime,Koojo Yorokamu,Kahinda Misearch C/M LCIII Rweikiniro S/C,Mbabazi Shakirah Karyeija LCV councilor for Rweikiniro and Ruhaama
