KABALE DISTRICT ENGINEER ARRESTED OVER CORRUPTION

IN KABALE—-

The Kabale district Engineer James Kiganda has been arrested by police on
orders of Kabale Resident district commissioner Darius Nandinda over shoddy
works on Kibanda health centre II in Kamwezi Sub County.

Kiganda was arrested last evening during a second impromptu inspection
by the RDC,
District Internal Security Officer Ronald Kashaija, District Police
Commander Dickens Bindeeba, Kick corruption out of Uganda officials that
found out that the work done was shoddy.

On 6th February 2015, Kabale district contracted concrete projects limited
to renovate Kibanda health centre II in Kamwezi sub county Kabale district
at 17, 552, 500shillings.

According to Nandinda, the wooden doors and rocks fixed are not up to
standard, the ceiling has developed cracks and he did not reconstruct a new
floor as they the bills of quantities stated and there is no value for
money.

He also recommended that the contractor be arrested so that he can refund
the money since the work  was shoddy.

However Kiganda says that when he visited the health facility on 4th
January 2017, he recommended that the contractor not to be paid because the
work done was shoddy. He however says that former Kabale district health
officer Patrick Tusiime insisted and paid him claiming that the money was
to be taken back to central government if not spent in time.

By press time, the Kabale District Police Commander Dickens Bindeeba was
taking Kiganda to police to make statement.
