KABALE MAN WHO MURDERED HIS WIFE, 3 CHILDREN SENTENCED TO 40 YEARS

The High Court sitting in Kabale has today sentenced to 40 years a man who pleaded guilty to the murder of his wife and three children in 2021.
The Court presided over by Justice Samuel Emokor has sentenced 45-year-old Ahimbisibwe Armstrong Vianney, a resident of Habutobere Village, Butare Parish, Muko Sub-county in Rubanda district, after his arrested on 12/06/2021.
The suspect has been sentenced due to setting a blase on his house which took the lives of four people, his wife Muheki Rovinah and his 3 children, Tumworebire Edwin 17 years, Akampumuriza Westlife 15 years, and Akinamushabire Maria Akwira 5 years.
According to the evidence that was presented before the Justice On 12/06/2021 at about 22:00hrs, the accused went to the deceased’s shop/bar at Hisesero where he found the deceased with their son known as Muheki Mathias Bob 12 years and assaulted the son.
Later, the men who had accompanied the deceased (Rovinah) to her home searched the incomplete structure and found the accused hiding with a sharp panga threatening to cut the deceased with a panga.
And the deceased (the wife and her three children) were advised to sleep and lockup the house to avoid fighting.
A few minutes later that night, at 10:00pm the residents heard a scream from the deceased’s house and came out of their houses to find the deceased’s house engulfed in fire with the deceased still inside. All efforts to put out the fire were futile.
According to the Chief Justice, further investigations revealed that the accused had been seen earlier that night at Champs Fuel Station holding a small yellow jerry-can.
The deceased bodies were subjected to the postmortem examination on PF48C, and found burnt beyond recognition and 2 of the deceased were male, 1 was an adult female and the other was a female child.
The accused was arrested on the night of 14/06/2021 at about 03:40am when he was found hiding in a forest near Lake Bunyonyi where he had directed a friend to come with a Boda-Boda and help in escape.
Justice Samuel Emokor has charged Ahimbisibwe Armstrong Vianney with 6 counts that is Four offences of murder, one offence of Arson and One offence of Assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Addressing journalists at high court Kabale the kigezi police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate has attributed such cases in Kigezi sub-region to land wrangles, domestic violence and high level of criminality.
He has informed the public that they should learn from such deterrent measures, and vowed that the sentence they gave to Ahimbisibwe Armstrong Vianney is enough for others to learn from it and stop behaving irresponsibly by always taking a law in its own hands.
