In Kabale—-
The deputy RDC Kabale Ronald Bakaki has urged the public to respect the land act if they want to stop land conflicts in the district.
He made this call yesterday while addressing journalists at the district headquarters in Kabale municipality.
Bakaki stressed that he has registered more than 30 cases of land conflicts within two months he has spent in the office.
He noted that most people in Kabale and Uganda at large do not respect the land act saying that the land act does not discriminate against gander but instead it calls for quality in families whereby both male and female should have a share on their parent’s land.
He added that most of the cases are between family members saying that if you find children accusing their parents of not giving them a share on their land he has advised them to resist such.
Bakaki has urged parents to always make wills or divide their land among their children in time in order to avoid conflicts among their children when they have died.
He has also warned youth against forcing their parents to give them a share but instead they should request their parents in good faith or go and work hard in order to have their own land.
Bakaki has also called upon parents to educate their children saying that once a child is educated, he/she will not go back to his parents questing for land but instead he will make his own money and buy land.
Has called upon leaders at all levels to work together and sensitize their people about land act in order to reduce or end land conflict in our areas.
