Residents in Mwendo parish Kitumba sub county Kabale District have asked the State minister of Finance for Planning, David Bahati to remind President Museveni on the pledges he made four years ago.
The residents made their request yesterday during the thanks giving ceremony for the expansion of Kitooma church of Uganda at the church premises in Kitumba Sub County where minister Bahati was the chief guest.
Residents alleged that during the presidential campaigns in 2015, President Museveni pledged to provide a ferry at Lake Bunyonyi in order to ease transport across the lake which had become a death trap for communities, to tarmac Bunyonyi road as one way of improving the tourism sector in Kabale district.
The residents who included the chief church warden of Kitooma church of Uganda Ben Twebaze and Francis Turyiguga a resident of Katooma cell said that the pledges have delayed.
They said that they need Bunyonyi road to be tarmacked as well as a ferry on the lake adding that this will reduce on the cost of transporting goods to the market centres.
In response, Minister Bahati said that they have already written to African Development Bank and China Exim Bank requesting for resources, adding that in few months, the procurement will start.
Bahati contributed 200 iron sheets worth ten million shillings towards the church expansion.
