KABAROLE VETERINARY OFFICER ARRESTED OVER CATTLE THEFT
By Sylvia Kugonza In Kabarole— Police in Fort Portal are holding the fort portal municipality Veterinary doctor; Stanley Businge and other two whose names are yet to be identified for allegedly stealing 8 cows from Rwebitaba Zadi Kyambogo Research farm in Busoro sub-county Kabarole district. According to Dominic Twesige the manger NAR, on the night of Tuesday last week, Busing and the group stole 8 research cows from the farm. Twesige narrated that the cows were discovered missing in the morning when the herds man was going for milking and called the ARO administration who reported the matter to police. Seven cows were intercepted from Mpodwe Bwera Kasese district at Congo border by police in Kasese who tipped off the Fort portal police and one that was sold to one Maliseri Businge of Kasusu at 125M shillings. According to the Kabarole district resident district commissioner, Steven Asiimwe, it has been observed that all animals stolen in Kabarole have a connection with abattoir. Asiimwe disclosed that the Veterinary officer (Businge) has to give a statement on how the two got the movement permit for the cows. RDC appeals to all people who have lost animals to thieves to come and make a statement at police. Meanwhile the OC CIID fort portal police has confirmed the incident and disclosed that the duo will be charged with animal theft if found guilty.
