In Kisoro—
Kisoro municipal speaker, Geoffrey Nkurunziza has called for an emergency council meeting on Friday this week to discuss on defiance by municipal clerk to halt the construction of head quarter gate
In a recent council meeting, councilors ordered municipal clerk Sharifa Nakintu to halt the construction of the gatehouse on grounds that it was smuggled into 2022/2023 financial year budget.
Surprisingly, the municipal clerk defied councilors’ directive and allowed the construction of the gatehouse to continue.
According to Nkurunziza, the emergency meeting scheduled for Friday will come up with a concrete resolution following the municipal clerk Sharifa Nakintu’ defiance to halt the ongoing construction of the gatehouse.
He said that Kisoro municipality authorities should prioritize on rehabilitating roads and buying land for garbage site.
LCV councilor representing southern division Agaba James stormed today’s meeting organized by municipal councilors at Bamboo Gardens and accused them of being bribed by municipal clerk Sharifa Nakintu to let the construction of the gatehouse stay.
Agaba James who claimed that he was denied entry into the meeting challenged councilors to always focus on public interests and avoid wasting tax payers’ money on non-essential projects.
In the recent council meeting, honorable Agaba James was received with cold shoulders as his presence seemed to be a real threat to Mayor his worship Ndyana Richard and a section of councilors.
In that recent council meeting, Agaba James who entered in the council quietly and sat behind later raised his arm to give a comment and when he granted permission, he accused mayor Richard Ndyana and his cabinet of being incompetent to the extent of letting town clerk do things the way she wishes without following council’s resolutions.
Agaba James went ahead and suggested that Mayor Ndyana Richard and his entire executive be censured with immediate effect.
Agaba’s utterances didn’t go well with mayor Richard Ndyana who stood up with intention of grabbing him (Agaba) and at least give him two to three punches for degrading him in the council.
After the utterances against the mayor and sensing his tough face, Agaba dashed out of the council and took to his heels for his safety.
Mayor Ndyana Richard followed him up to Miami hotel and Agaba James was saved by boda boda rider who whisked him away.
