MAN ATTEMPTS TO RAPE 75 YEAR OLD BIOLOGICAL MOTHER IN KISORO

Residents of Buhangura in Nyarusiza Sub County, Kisoro district were yesterday shocked after a man tried to rape his 75 year old mother.

The suspect, who is now behind bars has been identified as Sinamenye Sinaye 35, a resident of Buhangura village, Mabungo parish, Kisoro district.

The victim, Nyirantezimana Sarah 75 says that the incident happened around 7pm yesterday evening while she was returning from buying charcoal from ku-radio trading Centre.

Nyirantezimana further narrates that as they returned from buying charcoal, Sinamenye Sinaye, a son she has taken care of since pregnancy, grabbed her and told her that he wants to have intercourse with her.

“I could not believe my ears, but he seemed not to be in his right mind, he could have been very drunk, so I made the loudest alarm of my life, in all honesty, I knew my life was going to end, right there and then,” Nyirantezimana explained.

Residents who heard the alarm quickly came running and the predator of a man managed to flee from the scene living the old woman gasping for air and in tears.

The residents led by their area LC one chairperson Anna Nyirabuhoro never gave up the search for the alleged village rapist until he was caught and paraded at Nyarusiza sub county police station.

Buhangura LC one chairperson Anna Nyirabuhoro confirmed the incident and attributed it to alcoholism.

She advised her residents to desist from alcoholism and focus on praying to God for spiritual guidance.

Residents described the suspect as serial rapist and asked police to keep him away from the community.

“No one is safe when he is around, take him away and never bring him back. It is so disappointing because the man has a beautiful wife who has given him four children already but he cannot seem to get enough”, residents said.
