Police in Rukungiri are holding two people suspected of killing a man over love affairs.
The arrested William Owakubariho, 40, and Consolata Owomugisha, 38, are both residents of Kikunyu cell, Nyakitabire parish, Ruhinda Sub County in Rukungiri District.
According to the Rukungiri District Police Commander, ASP Moses Nanoka, preliminary investigations show that Owomugisha whose husband died last year, had two lovers who collided in her house and started fighting on Sunday October 26 night.
ASP Nanoka said that it is alleged one of Owomugisha’s men James Rweitemenzi 38, was sleeping in her house then the second William Owakubariho came in and a quarrel started resulting into a fight, in which Rweitemenzi was beaten and burnt to death,” Nanoka said.
John Twinoburyo one of the area residents told www.mknewslink.com that since Owomugisha’s husband died, she has been dating different men and they were not surprised to witness this bad act.
The Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, Elly Maate confirmed the arrests and said that investigations are ongoing at Rukungiri Police Station vide CRB1472.
Maate said it is suspected that Owomugisha, Owakubariho together with another still at large, clobbered Rweitemenzi and later burnt him with a mosquito net,
Rweitemenzi remained unconscious until Sunday morning when he was taken to Rwengiri Health Centre III where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
