Speaking at the scene to journalists, Betty Kyomuhendo deputy mayor masindi municipality acknowledged that last year council had proposal that instead of leaving the plots idle, they have to rent it out for a period of time on terms agreed with municipal council and individuals who are willing to buy.
She says James ventures was one of the people who picked interest and applied, but later in executive discussion with councillors, they came to realise that when those plots shall be rented out some people may become problem to them and thus decided alongside procurement office to stop the process .
He however denied information from some rumours that James ventures has stolen the plots.
Kyomuhendo adds that James ventures requested for parking yard which was given to him by former town clerk Francis Nyamugo but on their dismay they show him renovating one of the condemned structures as his office.
Kyomuhendo further told the journalists that upon seeing renovation going on it attracted their attention as executive prompting the executive to ask the former town clerk Francis Nyamugo he however told the meeting that there wasn’t any agreement between him and James ventures as well as municipal council and he was doing his own private business .
Kyomuhendo alleged that for several times, council warned town clerk to allow James ventures to vacate the place saying a lot has been going between James ventures and Francis Nyamugo former town clerk without the consent of municipal leadership.
While addressing the angry councillors and some technical staffs at municipal chambers, Daniel Kasala town clerk masindi municipality says government doesn’t allow any body to sale its land and law on land is very clear. And there for no one can sale and no body has sold.
Kasala says there was only miss guided process that was started by the council advertising the plots highering them out which he was told was not completed.
“The person who is trying to fence off the land is doing it illegally and with no one’s permission this is why when he went to rdc , he was guided to write to him (RDC) and also stop that development and they were supposed to work with police to guard the premises.
Kasala asked everybody to be calm saying they will short it out but speculations and suspicions must end because everything must be evidence based some people can use their own power with impunity but which only works for short time.
Kasala says municipal has title’s for that land and land title is the one which gives legal ownership to a person adding they are working closely with the office of Rdc to protect this.
