Masindi Municipal Council has been ranked the best performer in the Bunyoro Sub Region in the just released 2024 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results.
According to the results, Masindi Municipal Council took the 38th position on the national grid and emerged the best in Bunyoro with a 98% performance, followed by Kibaale district with 94%.
Betty Bahemuka, the Municipal inspector of schools said they registered a total of 2,214 candidates in 2024 compared to 2,106 in 2023 thus an increase of 5%, with more girls than boys who completed primary education.
Bahemuka added that there was an increase in the number of candidates who passed in division three by 1% compared to that of the previous year with girls passing with a higher rate of 98% while boys at 96.1%.
She stressed the need for schools to focus more on the boy child education in order to uplift the quality of education in totality.
Among the best five schools in the municipality included; Madina Education Centre, Masindi International School, St. Lawrence Nursery and Primary School and Masindi Miracle School.
The worst performing five were; Edens Glory, St. Mary’s Kibwona, Kiloya, God’s Mercy and Kabalye primary schools.
Ronald Businge Kyomuhendo, the Municipal Mayor stresses that though they topped Bunyoro sub region, they still need to double efforts to ensure they are ranked among the best government administrative unit in the country.
He appeals to parents to support their children with basic needs for their education asserting that some parents tend to involve their children in non-activities during school hours thus missing lessons.
Darius Nandinda, resident district commissioner for Masindi called for a good working relationship between parents, school administrations and the PTA.
