MBARARA POLICE, FDC CANDIDATES LOCK HORNS ON CAMPAIGN LAUNCH

The joint Campaign launch for Mbarara city Forum for Democratic Change Candidates has been delayed for hours by the police.
The launch organized by the chairperson FDC Mbarara district Stanley Katembeya held in Kakoba ward Mbarara city south division was supposed to begin at 9:00Am but started at 2:00Pm.
The launch was put on still by the police led by the District Police Commander John Rutagira who stormed the venue at Moonlight demanding the launch be stopped.
It took all the aspiring candidates to hold a brief meeting with the security officers to agree on the formalities of holding the launch and also presented to police with the electoral commission routine harmonized timetable that was allowing them to hold the launch.
Nick Kashaija, FDC flag bearer for Mbarara city south Member of Parliament faults police for acting shamelessly noting that they expected it.
Agatha Tusasire, Mbarara woman Member of Parliament on FDC ticket says that police are there to intimidate their voters so that they are scared to attend their rallies.
She says she did all the electoral commission demanded her to do so police should not interfere.
Later the two parties reached to an understand and the launch went on under a strict supervision of the police.
While launching their manifestos Agatha Atusasire aspiring Member of Parliament and Nick Kashaija Rutahaba aspiring Member of Parliament for Mbarara city south pledged to promote health facilities in order to reduce the death rates for the women while birthing their children, unemployment opportunities and among others.
