MIN. MAGYEZI WARNS IBANDA LEADERS AGAINST SELLING GOV’T LAND AS LONGEST SERVING CHAIR KAZWENGYE RETIRES

Ibanda top district officials, councilors and well-wishers on Saturday bid farewell to their long serving boss, the LC V chairperson Mr. Melchidius Kazwengye.
Happy Mayanja the chairperson elect was also welcomed at the same function held at View gardens in Ibanda Municipality.
Kazwengye 61 years and former Technical school principal was elected as the first LC V chairperson in 2005. He has been in the office for 16 years after Ibanda district was carved from Mbarara district. He is born from Rukiri Sub County in Ibanda district.
The district councilors and district workers described Kazwengye as an expert, a father, counselor and a true leader who gave Ibanda district a model development, care, courage and Ibanda’s development shall continue as his legacy.
Kazwengye noted that during his time in the office, he renovated the old building which was in the existence and that is where the district is operating.
He boasted that many villages, cells and sub counties have received clean water through Mukazanyara water plant.
The Minister for Local government Mr. Raphael Magezi, commended the people of Ibanda district for their determination to build the district and urged them to work as one family and team.
The Minister lauded Mr. Kazwengye for promoting development projects in the district and bringing unity among the people during 16 years since he was elected as chairperson LC V.
Meanwhile, the Minister warned the leaders not to sell off the government land which will spoil the image of the district.
