MINISTER TAKEN TO HIGH COURT FOR DEFAMATION

Masindi High court Registrar Acio Juli has set 30^th May of 2017 as the mediation date for the case between the state minister for Bunyoro affairs, Ernest Kiiza and Bunyoro Kitara Reparation Agency (BUKITAREPA)

In January this year BUKITAREP dragged Kiiza to court accusing him of defamation.

Doviko Batwale, the coordinator Bunyoro Kitara Reparation Agency, says that on 27^th November last year Kiiza uttered defamatory statements against BUKITAREPA during the Bunyoro parliamentary caucus which was held at Kolping hotel in Masindi town.

He adds that addressing the Bunyoro parliamentary caucus, Kiiza referred BUKITAREPA as con men who are collecting money from un suspecting public. He said that they received the letter notifying them of the mediation date yesterday.

Efforts to get a comment from Zemei Abel Kiiza’s lawyer were futile since she didn’t respond to her known phones.

Meanwhile Acio Juli the Registrar Masindi High court has set 3^rd/may/2017 as the ruling date of the case in which BUKITAREPA sued Bunyoro district land boards of all the seven districts in Bunyoro.
