In Bushenyi—
The minister of Local Government Hon. Raphael Magyezi has strongly warned Bushenyi Ishaka municipal councilors to immediately stop censures of their bosses.
“The culture of censuring is the worst in this country and I have worked hard to ensure that it doesn’t occur in my tenure but am shocked that it is happening in my home municipality,” Minister Magyezi noted.
He said this during the official commisioning of a maternity ward at Bushenyi health Centre IV in Bushenyi Ishaka municipality.
USAID rhites headed by its country director Dr. Edward Birakwate has spent over 600 shillings million by rehabilitating Outpatient department building, equipping the laboratory with modern machinery, maternity ward.
Minister Magyezi’s utterances came as a result of the recent illegal censure of the deputy mayor Joel Nkole against the advice of the solicitor general who warned them to do it on their own.
After the censure of Joel Nkole about two weeks and ago, he remained in office but run to lawyers with an intention to sue or they pay 200 million shillings.
At the beginning of this year, the speaker Evarist Rwambuga narrowly survived a censure on the mercies of minister Magyezi but the minister is now surprised that the speaker is the one spearheading the censure of the deputy mayor.
“I would have driven here to calm down these censure hungry councilors but I was busy thus I learnt of it too late,” the minister revealed.
He noted that the local government act has been amended and a clause has been put there to ensure that if a leader is censured against the advice of top authorities, the party involved is liable to costs in case taken to court.
