In Rukungiri.
As Rukungiri Woman Member of parliament by election draws nearer, NRM team including ministers David Bahati, the State Minister of Planning and Dr Chris Baryomunsi the State Minister of housing, together with Kisoro District Woman MP Rose Kabagyenyi and Ntungamo district woman MP Beatrice Rwakimari have camped in the district to campaign for their flag bearer Winfred Matsiko.
Minister Bahati noted that this by-election is not like the 2016 general elections because where was a chance that the FDC’s, Col Kiiza Besigye would win the presidential race thereby saying that there is no need to vote the opposition since NRM is in control.
He thus promised to cooperate with Winfred Masiko if elected, to develop the newly created town councils of Bikurungu, Rwerere, Buyanja and Kebisoni.
Minister Baryomunsi who confirmed that they will stay in Runkungiri until the elections are over, urged voters to allow Matsiko finish her term.
However the former FDC president Gen. Mugisha Muntu on Friday while campaigning for FDC candidate Bettey Muzanira in Kebison Sub County asked voters to desist from lies of some politicians and tasked voters to guard their votes after casting.
He also revealed that this should be a lesson to everyone who supported the scrapping of article 102 (b) from the 1995 constitution.
