By Deo Okoodi
President Yoweri Museveni has urged the church to promote sound family values, good attitude towards work and peaceful resolution of conflicts in the country.
The president noted that such areas remain significant in improving living standards of people.
In a speech read for him by the vice President Edward Sekandi during golden Jubilee celebrations for Ankole Diocese held at the diocese headquarters in Ruharo Mbarara, President Museveni also urged Anglican Church to continue cultivating good relationship with other religious faith organizations in order to promote unity and harmony hence foster development among Christians.
He said this celebration does not only symbolize 50 years of faith but also human development, civilization and service to human kind and called upon Godly people to work hard to engage in productive economic ventures to ensure sustainable income for both the church and households.
Ankole diocese was in 1967 curved out of former Ankole-Kigezi diocese and has since then led to the birth of other four dioceses which include West Ankole diocese, North Ankole diocese, South Ankole diocese and the recent North-West Ankole diocese.
