President Museveni will be in Sheema to campaign for NRM candidate in the Sheema Municipality Parliamentary race Dr. Elioda Tumwesigye.
Dr. Tumwesigye who is the MP Sheema north, and the NRM flag bearer in the Sheema Municipality Parliamentary contest, faces FDC’s Virginia Mugenyi Plan and five other NRM leaning Independents.
Dr. Tumwesigye revealed to his supporters that on Tuesday 24th July 2018, president Museveni will be in sheema municipality campaigning for him.
According to Dr. Elioda, Museveni will start his campaign from kihunda, Rwamujojo, karera and end with Kabwohe town council.
Prime minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda who was on Tuesday 17, July also campaigning for Dr. Elioda warned the public against forming political cliques saying that it leads to political instability.
Addressing NRM supporters at Sheema municipal council headquarters, Rugunda urged them to forget their differences but unite for purposes of promoting party interests in the newly created Sheema Municipality Parliamentary and local council elections.
He noted that there isn’t any reason why the people of Sheema should betray president Museveni and NRM government during the polls because he gave special political recognition and confidence to the district when he appointed two people from the area to cabinet yet there are other districts without a single minister and they are still requesting.
However, Elioda refuted romours that he is selfish because will be representing two constituencies, saying that he was shown a green light by the electoral commission.
” I wrote to the Electoral commission to announce sheema north seat vacant but it refused that it will be vacant if I win municipality elections. I chose to stand in municipality because the majority of my supporters fall there since in 2016 elections I obtained 35000 votes from municipality and 30000 from north “said Dr Elioda.
Elioda also denied people’s opinions that the district NRM figures like chairperson LCV canon Kabigumira, woman MP Hon Jacklet, Kahindi, Makaaru and others that they are opposing him saying that all those are political romours to confuse his supporters.
