Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) emerged triumphant at the Inter-University Nursing and Midwifery Students Quiz 2025, held at Bishop Stuart University in Mbarara. The competition, organized by the Inter-University Nursing and Midwifery Students Association (INMSA), attracted participants from 11 universities across Uganda.
Held under the theme “Empowering Nursing and Midwifery Students for Excellence in Professional Practice,” the quiz tested participants on a wide range of topics, including biomedical science, clinical subjects, research, practical skills, innovations, and general knowledge.
MUST secured first place with a total of 120 points, showcasing outstanding academic performance and teamwork. The winning team was led by Ssemaganda Tonny Twaha, President of the Mbarara University Nursing Students Association (MUNSA), with support from Dr. Atuhaire Catherine, the team patron, and Ms. Nabulo Harriet, Head of the Nursing Department.
Top-performing students from MUST included Ssegirinya Mulushid, Tidhamulala Isaac, Nakalembe Swaburah, Mugwanya Edrine, Oyesigye Ezra, Hipaigba Susan, Yuwa Elvis, Abonga Wilson, Bilibawa Mercy, and Kawooya Abdallah, representing all academic years of the Bachelor of Nursing Science program.

Participating institutions in this year’s competition included Bishop Stuart University, Agakhan University, Victoria University, Lira University, Muni University, Soroti University, Makerere University, Busitema University, Islamic University in Uganda, and Kabale University.
MUST’s victory reaffirms its status as a center of academic excellence and reflects its commitment to training competent, patient-centered healthcare professionals.
