The Ntungamo chief magistrate’s court presided over by His worship Gordon Muhimbiise yesterday granted bail to National Resistance Movement (NRM) renowned media activist Ashraf Rweyeshera.
Rweyeshera was arrested on Wednesday last week on accusations of stealing land tittles and marriage certificate from the Ntungamo district woman MP Baata Kamateneti and demanding her to pay 209million shillings to get them back.
He is also accused of threatening MP Kamateneti’s relatives including her mother to do something bad if not paid.
He was charged with threatening violence before chief magistrate’s court on Friday and remanded to Sheema government prison until 19th August 2021 when he would re-appear in court for mention and bail.
Rweyeshera yesterday appeared before the Ntungamo magistrate’s court for mention of the case and was granted bail.
