OPINION: THE MIGHT NRM DELEGATES CONFERENCE SHOULD ADDRESS THE “WE ARE DIRECTED” SYNDROME!

My evening!!Yesterday was brightened by a round table corporate discussion on politics in our country and zeroed more on my district. The analysis went deeper in the NRM primaries ahead and how meaningless they would appear if the “we are directed” syndrome is not addressed.
My elite contribution based on the key election fundamentals as well as the constitution almost attracted me canes as colleagues urged that this NRM.
With a lot of consternation, I looked at the level of hopelessness already in our minds being expressed early and wondered whether we are children of a lesser God that we have no ability to shape our own politics.
The entire discussion was occupied by “NRM will direct who should occupy which seat”. “……has support from all over but we have the victory as long as “He” directs”!! Typical African.
Comrades ladies and gentlemen, we can never have better leadership if we continue being stuck in the status quo. Times have changed and our people must be left to exercise their right of choice for they know who they are and what they are going through. Allow new entrants to present their manifestos and incumbents who are still interested to personally account based on their previous promises.
Open the space for each to reach out to the people and let the people decide on who to lead them as per Article 1 of the constitution of our country.
The already paraded pesterers in the game should lay down their tools for all we need are better leaders chosen out of will.
For those moving to the NRM delegates conference at least for once make a difference. It’s not a platform for clapping and singing; it’s a platform for meaningful engagement on issues that can better our country and in particular put the party in order. Address the issue of directing. Let there be uncensored participation and let the space be open to all NRM members within the party.
The party actions will most likely shape the direction of forthcoming general elections and so everyone within the party must trade with care for the good of our country during this period.
