In Sheema—-
Parents and Graduands of Taremwa College –Kabwohe in Sheema District son Friday, 17 demonstrated against the college administration during the graduation function.
Celebrations started colorfully but ended with a serious demonstration due to school’s failure to give academic documents to the graduates to help them in the fields of job applications.
It is said that since 2015 nobody has ever gotten his or her certificate nor provisional results slip.
By press time, some of administrators including the school Principal Mr Abaho had been detained.
The angry graduates said that wherever they apply for a job, they are asked to present their academic documents from the institution which they don’t have yet they paid 50000 for certificates.
“Are we going to use these gowns when applying for jobs? why did you call us to graduate if you knew that you don’t have our certificates. What is” angry parents and graduates chanted.
Rev Elisam B Bampata chairman board of directors in his defense noted that some graduates don’t qualify for the certificates because they failed external exams, “that’s why the school doesn’t have their certificates.”
When he was asked that why the school didn’t inform the students early for retakes, he (Rev Bampata) replied angrily that local parents don’t understand which pissed off demonstrators and they started pulling some administrators nearby.
Director of the school Ms Jenina Tushemereirwe Bampata, tried to grab and slap one of the graduate who was asking her consecutive difficult questions, an act that added insult to the demonstrators who almost grabbed her.
In 2016 the same Institution was taken to the ministry of education and sports for the same issue of failing to release results.
