In Buliisa—
Rt. Hon. Robbinah Nabbanja the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uganda has temporarily halted the Implementation of the Parish Development Model {PDM} Program in the oil rich Buliisa district in Bunyoro sub region.
According to Nabbanaja, the government program will resume once Uganda Bureau of Statistics {UBoS} identifies the people who are the real beneficiaries of the project.
“I have temporarily halted the implementation of the PDM program until Uganda Bureau of Statistics {UBoS} identifies the people who are the real beneficiaries of the project,’’ she said.
This was sounded on Tuesday during the launch of Parish Development Model {PDM} in Buliisa district held at Buliisa District resource center.
The head of government businesses made the resolution after realizing that most PDM groups formed in the oil rich district did not favor the poor as stipulated in the PDM guidelines.
According to the Nabbanja, PDM was introduced to target poor people who are practicing subsistence farming to save money.
The Prime Minister further said the PDM Program is intended for homesteads not individuals saying members forming groups should be from different households.
