POLICE OFFICER’S DAUGHTER BURNT WITH COOKING OIL IN SCUFFLE TO ARREST MOTORCYCLIST

A one year old baby girl in Hoima district has been severely burnt with cooking oil as police officers tried to arrest a motorcyclist who was found carrying passengers contrary to the ministry of health COVID19 guidelines.
The incident happened today morning at around 8:30am after unidentified motorcyclist who was carrying two passengers met a police patrol vehicle UP 2409 along Hoima Kampala road.
It is reported that upon seeing police, the rider and the passengers took off to the nearby houses in Buikya Park Cell Buikya ward Mparo division.
Stella Kiconco, a resident of Buikya says that Police officers followed both the rider and passengers and a scuffle began.
She adds that during the scuffle to impound the motorcycle, it hit the flying pan and the hot cooking oil splashed on the kid who was lying near the pan and it burnt her stomach and the right arm.
After the incident, residents started to throw stones at police but they were overpowered and the motorcycle taken to Hoima central police station while the rider and passengers went into hiding, according to eye witnesses.
ASP Julius Hakiza Allan, the Albertine regional spokesperson confirmed the regretful incident saying that the child is a daughter to a police officer attached to Mbale police station in Mbale district whose name has been withheld by police.
The child has been taken to Edpa clinic for treatment.
