PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHER COMMITTED TO HIGH COURT IN KABALE OVER DEFILEMENT

The Kabale Grade I Magistrates court has committed to high court , a 31 year old primary school teacher, for trial over the alleged defilement and impregnating of his 15 year old pupil.
Court that was presided over by His worship Julius Mutabazi heard from the prosecution led by Rachael Nkwanzi that Augustine Twinobusingye in September 2023 while at Crane preparatory in Rubanda district had unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl aged 15 years who was his pupil contrally to section 129 sub section 3 and 4 (a) of the penal code act.
Prosecution told court that Twinobusingye who was a teacher at crane preparatory school on several occasions would give the victim (Names withheld) who was a primary seven pupil some homework which she would take to him for marking at his home and he would later defile her.
Court heard that in December 2023 after breaking off for holidays, The victim’s mother discovered from village rumors that her daughter was pregnant but on sending her for medical checkup, the nurse colluded with Twinobusingye and reported that the victim was not pregnant.
The plan to secretly carry out an abortion at Hamurwa health center IV was foiled by health workers who informed the victim’s mother,
When the case was reported to the head teacher of Crane Preparatory school, Burazio Turihohabwe The suspect disappeared and was arrested later when he resurfaced asking to be given back his job.
Prosecution led by Nkwanzi told court that investigations are over as she asked court that The suspect be committed to high court for trial.
