REFUGEES KILL ISINGIRO MAN OVER ILLEGAL FISHING

Police in Isingiro are investigating circumstances under which a man was allegedly killed during a clash between Nationals and refugees at Nyarugugu landing site.
Kabelege Waiswa a 45 year old fisher man, resident of Kashwojwa cell,Kashwojwa parish Rugaaga sub county Isingiro district was allegedly killed and dumped in the lake by the refugees after they overpowered the nationals during the fight over illegal fishing using the mosquito net.
It is allegedly that the nationals were accusing the refugees over the use of mosquito nets for fishing and ended up catching immature fish which the nationals says its illegal as per laws at the landing sites.
According to Police, the nationals yesterday decided to make their operations with their boats and managed to arrest some refugees fishing using mosquito nets.
After arresting some of the refugees, their colleagues came in large number and managed to overpower the nationals who ended up escaping using their boats but the deceased was left behind by his fellows.
Samson Kasasira the Rwizi region police spokesperson said that the body of the deceased was retrieved from the lake with multiple wounds on the head and on the back.
Kasasira added that no one has been arrested and investigations into the matter are ongoing.
