Police in Rubanda District are investigating circumstances under which unidentified woman believed to be in her late twenties died.
The body was discovered on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, inside an unfinished house in Rwenkurijo Cell, Muyanje Ward, Bubaare Town Council, Rubanda District.
According to the Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime, a team of detectives and Scene of Crime officers responded to the scene and found the body in a decomposed state.
The body was transported to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary, where it is being kept pending a postmortem examination and identification, Tumushime revealed.
Tumushime said the deceased believed to have been in her late twenties, dressed in a multi-coloured kitenge outfit, predominantly green with black and yellow patterns.
He appealed to anyone with a missing female relative or friend matching the description to report to the nearest police station or visit Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary to assist with identification.
Tumushime also urged anyone with information that could help identify the deceased or assist with the investigation to report to the nearest police station.
Police have further cautioned members of the public against tampering with crime scenes, warning that doing so may interfere with ongoing investigations.
