In Rubirizi–
Rubirizi residents have been warned against environmental degradation as Rubirizi district local government in collaboration with Reproductive Health Uganda launched 5-year environmental work plan aimed at promoting environmental sustainability, boost conservation of natural resources and protecting tourism attractions in community.
Speaking during the launch held at Rubirizi on Saturday 5th Sept.2026. Aggrey Agaba patriot the district environment officer Rubirizi cautioned the public against deforestation, encroaching on wetlands, polluting lakes and rivers and bush burning.
He highlighted the purpose of the environmental work plan as to protect and preserve natural resources and tourism attractions in Rubirizi through tree planting, proper waste management and sustainable farming practices.
He noted that Rubirizi is one of the districts in Uganda richly endowed with natural resources, including forests, wetlands, crater lakes, wildlife, and part of Queen Elizabeth national park but emphasized the need for everyone to take part in protecting the endowments to ensure people live in a good, clean and conducive environment.
According to Annet Kyarimpa the executive director of Sexual Reproductive Health Uganda, they believe that there is a strong link between environmental sustainability, health, and community well-being.
She noted that when the environment is degraded, it directly affects people’s health, food security, and livelihoods.
