Police in Rukiga are investigating circumstances surrounding the mysterious death of a 43 year old woman.
The deceased whose body was discovered mauled by dogs has been identified as Leonard Tushemerirwe a resident of Rwempango cell Kyerero parish Bukinda sub county Rukiga District.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate said that the lifeless body of the deceased was discovered yesterday Sunday morning in a garden of beans about 100 meters from her home.
Maate said that it is alleged that the deceased has been a village drunkard and was last seen on Friday 23rd Sept 2022 drinking in several bars in Kyerero Trading Center.
However, by Saturday evening she had not reached home and this prompted her children to report to the area LC 1 Chairperson Madame Tushabe who organized the residents to carry out a search in the village, and indeed the deceased was discovered dead when her body had been mauled by dogs.
When the Police were notified, they visited the scene and retrieved the body and took it to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination to establish real cause of her death.
Maate said that the case of murder was registered at Rukiga Central Police Station under reference number CRB 453/2022 to help in investigations.
