RUKUNGIRI MUNICIPALITY YOUTH RECEIVE 43.5 M YOUTH LIVELIHOOD PROGRAMME FUNDS.

Youth Livelihood program in Rukungiri Municipality has distributed a sum of 43.5 Million Uganda shillings to four youth groups to harness their social-economic potential, increase self-employment opportunities and income levels.
Ambrose Tusiime, the municipal principal community development officer while talking to www.mknewslink.com yesterday after a one day group capacity building workshop, said that this program was introduced to create job opportunities, improve on their income and reduce on poverty levels among the youth.
Tusiime noted that a total of 346 youth engaged in different activities of piggery, poultry, Goat rearing, brick making, boda boda among others have so far benefited from this programme.
He urged the youth to continue forming groups to share on the national cake.
“As the youths, you need to form more groups if you are to share on the government funding,” Tusiime added.
The groups that benefited this year are Karucumitsi B boda boda youth group with 12.5 million, Kanyanga boda boda youth group got 12.5 million among others.
Andrew Karuhanga and Derick Mwesigye the group leaders of Karucumitsi and Kanyanga boda boda groups respectively hailed the government for thinking about them promising to use this money promptly to improve their standards of living.
The Ministry of Gender and Labor, which oversees the Youth Livelihood Program, released a report showing billions of shillings given to various youth groups has been embezzled and the leaders of the groups disappeared which forced government to suspend funding in 80 districts country wide.
