Rukungiri has been ranked the leading district in commit suicide in Kigezi region as 275 Ugandans have died as a result of suicide during COVID 19 Lock down.
Speaking to www.mknewslink.com reporter in a phone interview today, the deputy police spokesperson Polly Namaye said the increased cases of suicide in the country is fueled by depression due to the impact of Covid 19 and other challenges.
She mentioned Lwengo district as a leading district in commit suicide, followed by Rukungiri, Tororo, Nakaseke, Gulu, Mbale, Mpigi, Kakumiro, Adjuman, Koboko, Kumi among others.
She further urged Ugandans to seek for help from experts instead of killing themselves.
Police also revealed that it has registered over 275 cases of suicide during the Covid-19 lock down.
According to Uganda police statistics; there has been an increase of 20% compared to cases recorded the same period last year.
