Two schools in Rukungiri District have today 28th July 2017 closed
following an external strike by students of both schools who accused
each other of attacking.
The schools are identified as Makobore High school and St Gerard’s
senior secondary School Nyakibale.
Five students from both Makobore High school and St Gerard’s Nyakibale
secondary School were arrested as the principal suspects who led the
strike while six more are being treated injuries at St Karoli Lwanga
Those under detention were identified as Amanya Soul, Byaruhanga Ivan
and Muhanguzi Trevor from St Geralds SSS Nyakibale and Orikiriza Onan
and Nimusiima Dawin from Makobore High school Kinyasano.
According to a student who preferred anonymity, said that a group of
St. Gerald’s SSS students attacked Makobore at around 12:00 Am with
petrol to burn the school with an intention to revenge over the fire
that gutted St Gerald’s offices early this month.
St Gerald’s students suspect their counterparts at Makobore for being
behind the fire at their own school that left the Head teacher’s
office burnt leaving everything destroyed.
