THREE BODIES, TWO UNIDENTIFIED RETRIEVED FROM RIVER RWIZI

The marine police and local divers have retrieved three bodies from River Rwizi in the ongoing search for the people who drowned in the river at the start of this week.
On Monday at around 7:30 PM, a canoe carrying four people capsized in the river.
The victims who drowned on Monday were identified as Rukundo Amutuhaire, 19, a senior five student of Five Star High School Ntungamo and resident of Nyakaizi Cell, Timothy Kakuru, 23, a second-year student of medical lab at St. Vincent School of Health Sciences in Koranorya and resident of Karugangama cell, and Alysious Taremwa alias Rasta Tall man, who was the owner of the canoe.
On Wednesday, a team of marine police led by Sgt. Alyasi Wakadala from the fire and rescue services from Kampala arrived at the scene to assist in recovering the missing people.
By Thursday afternoon only three bodies were retrieved from the river and were identified as Timothy Kakuru and the other two are yet to be identified.
ASP Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Region Police spokesperson, said that the police picked up the bodies and conveyed them to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital mortuary while making efforts to trace the relatives of the unidentified bodies.
Kasasira said the search is still ongoing for the missing persons with hopes of finding them.
