Journalists in Bunyororo have been advised to brand them selves through various platforms they use in order for them to get something on table.
This call was made by public relations coordinator for total energies David Aliker during an engagement meeting with journalists of masindi in their office within Masindi town on Thursday
Aliker noted that most journalists fail to use their respective platforms in order to tap opportunities from sources through searching for information and clarifying where people can have trust in them whenever they publish or talk about them in their respective media houses .
” where you work, is just platform for you to create your own platform, you can brand your self in covering only oil and gas or environment where people will always know you for that Aliker stressed “
“If just mention of your name can put plate on table you are doing well with branding, but if it can not then you have work to do as journalist you have platform to make that name”.
He however asked journalists to desist from ready made information but rather search for their own .
In the same meeting,Josam Gucwaki president of greater masindi media practitioners association (GMEPA) asked total energies to organise capacity building on oil and gas for journalists , update community on oil and gas and guided media tours to the oil fields.
Ribert Businge Journalist working with Bunyororo broadcasting services (BBS) asked for scholarship for journalists so that they can be equipped with knowledge on oil and gas.
Responding to some of the questions, Aliker says there are a lot of capacity building initiatives inside both online and outside technically.
He also identified some of corporate social responsibilities depending on the district development plans citing water project for the case of Bulisa since its water stress area.
