TRAFFIC POLICE DEPLOYED ON KIGEZI ROADS TO DEAL WITH CARELESS DRIVERS

As schools open for term one 2019, Police in Kigezi Region have warned road users especially drivers to be mindful of traffic rules and regulations to ensure safety and security on the roads.
The Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson Elly Maate while addressing the media at Kabale Central Police Station in Kabale Municipality said accidents during the special days are often as a result of driving vehicles in bad mechanical conditions, lack of driving skills, drink driving, use of drugs and over speeding.
Maate said that road users must respect the traffic regulations and stand by the guidelines given by the traffickers on the roads and highways.
He added that traffic Police have been deployed in different places to arrest the drivers and cyclists who will be found in violation of stipulated traffic regulations.
He emphasized the issue of most accidents are caused by recklessness, drink-driving and talking on phones while driving.
However he appealed to parents and schools authorities to be keen on how the children are dropped off and picked from schools at the time as the way of reducing kidnaps which has became a serious security threat in Uganda nowadays.
