In Masindi—
Authorities in Kyatiiri town council in Masindi district have sought the intervention of the district chief administrative officer Phiona Sanyu into their matter with former senior assistant accountant Jolly Tuhaise over the town council’s chairs.
This is contained in the letter dated September 27th 2022 addressed to Sanyu by the town council senior assistant town clerk Ibrahim Nasur after Tuhaise who was recently transferred to Pakanyi Sub County left the town council with 20 plastic chairs allegedly belonging to the town council.
In a letter seen by our reporter, Nasur claims that on September 23rd 2022, Tuhaise went to the town council offices and took the chairs without his knowledge.
Nasur added that he had been pestering Tuhaise to handover office to the new senior assistant accountant Susan Kabonesa following her transfer but she has refused.
Nasur also accused Tuhaise of failure to provide financial reports for the 2021/2022 financial year among other accusations and he now wants the CAO to take punitive action against her.
Speaking to www.mknewslink.com Tuhaise admitted taking the chairs Nasur referred to in the letter to the Chief administrative officer.
She however clarified that Kyatiri town council had borrowed the chairs from Pakanyi Sub County adding that that’s why she took the chairs to Pakanyi but not her home as alleged.
“What I know the chairs where procured by Pakanyi sub county but Kyatiiri town council had just borrowed them’, Tuhaise said.
Frank Asiimwe, the chairperson Pakanyi sub county said the controversial chairs belong to his sub county but Kyatiri town had borrowed them for its inauguration event day last year.
He added that the chairs have been returned to the sub county.
We could not get a comment from the CAO on the matter at the time of publishing this story.
