TV WEST ,UBC JOURNALISTS ASSAULTED BY POLICE IN MITOOMA DISTRICT

Two greater Bushenyi journalists attached to TV west and UBC were on Wednesday assaulted by police in Mitooma as they tried to cover a story in the district.
Sheik Abdulatif of TV West and his colleague Collins Kandumu of UBC were beaten by two officers; Crime Intelligence Officer in charge of Mitooma district and a military escort to the Mitooma RDC.
The two were covering a story on the effect of security in and around Mitooma community.
Sheik Abdulatif told www.mknewslink.com reporter that the military officer beat him allover the body seriously injuring him.
According to Chris Mugasha the BUJOMA chairman,this is not the first time journalists are tortured in Mitooma since another journalist was also tortured in the district last year.
Mugasha noted that Sheik Abdulatif was rushed to Katenga Clinic in critical conditions and the case was reported to Katenga Police station with a command from DPC after OC station refused to record the case.
