Police in Kabale have arrested a commercial sexual worker aged 20 years for allegedly stealing a two months old baby boy who was later discovered dead floating on Kiruruma River.
The suspect has been identified as Mackline Ainembabazi of Kigongi A cell Central division Kabale municipality in Kabale district.
According to the Kigezi region police spokes person Elly Matte, both the mother of the child Glorious Tumusime and Ainembabazi Mackline the suspect stay in the same building and work at T& J bar and restaurant near Bombocha as commercial sex workers.
Matte told www.mknewslink.com that on 11/3/2020 evening at around 22:00 hrs, the two left for work, Glorious leaving her child locked in her room using a padlock of the suspect.
He further revealed that on returning at around 05:00 hours in the morning of 12/3/2020,Â she found the kid missing so she tried to ask the friend now suspect who had threatened to harm the kid claiming the mother was proud of it.
On the 19/3/2020 at around 19:30 hours, the missing child was seen dead floating on water at river Kiruruma by kids who were grazing goats.
Matte noted that Police were notified, retrieved the decomposing body and postmortem was done then it was handed over to the mother as Inquiries are underway.
The case was registered at Kabale Main police station under reference number CRB 313/2020.
